What is a Beachbody Challenge Group?

What is a Beachbody Challenge Group and should I join one - Get your questions answered at MamaExercises.com

It was about this time last year when I first heard about Beachbody Challenge Groups. I hadn’t heard of them before and, not being one who is really motivated by competition, I was a bit leery. So, what is a Beachbody Challenge Group and how can it help you with your fitness goals? Let me break it down for you, because it’s definitely not as intimidating as you may think.

What is a Beachbody Challenge Group?

A quick explanation is that a Beachbody Challenge Group is a support group filled with people who are working on their health and fitness goals using primarily Beachbody programs and run by an Independent Beachbody Coach. Say that five times fast. 😉

Are all Challenge Groups the same?

As with all things, there are varying degrees of Beachbody Challenge Groups and the tone and requirements of each group depends on the person running them and the purpose of the group. Some groups require daily participation and posting. Others require using Shakeology. Some are program specific (i.e. – 21 Day Fix, PiYo, Hammer and Chisel, Cize, Insanity, etc.) and others are general Challenge Groups that encompass all Beachbody programs. In many cases, Coaches run different Challenge Groups each month (or every few months), so check with your Coach to see what he or she is offering.

Don’t have a Coach? I’d love to chat with you about my upcoming Challenge Groups and help you reach your health and fitness goals. Contact me here!

Is there a charge to participate in a Challenge Group?

Other than the cost of the Beachbody program Challenge Pack, there’s no additional fee or requirement. Beachbody Challenge Packs vary in price depending on what’s on sale during the month. Again, your Coach can help you, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Where are Challenge Groups usually run? Do I have to go somewhere?

Beachbody Challenge Groups are usually administered through private Facebook groups, so there’s no need to leave the house or put on your make-up. It’s like having a team of people cheering you on while you’re in pajamas on the sofa or debating whether to work out or not. Which is, of course, an awesome way to get support!

Do I have to do a Challenge Group?

You absolutely do not have to do a Beachbody Challenge Group to do a Beachbody program. Challenge Groups are for those who would like the camaraderie and support of a small group of people who are working on their health and fitness goals too. If you prefer to go solo, that’s okay. Would I recommend that you get involved with a Challenge Group though? ABSOLUTELY.

What does a Challenge Group actually do though?!

Again, the Challenge Group specifics are determined by the Coach running the group, but most have daily inspiration, recipes, help with meal planning, tips for staying on track, help with the workouts, and are a great place for you to ask questions related to health and fitness. Some Coaches also offer incentives or hold contests within the Challenge Group. It’s like the ultimate support group for your fitness and health goals and it’s free!

Do I have to post pictures of myself? I heard I have to take before and afters and post them for everyone to see?

I can tell you right now that if that was a requirement for the first Challenge Group I was in, I would have been instantly turned off to Beachbody forever. No, absolutely not. No one can make you post before and after pictures. In fact, I’ve been doing this for awhile now and I still haven’t posted my before pictures. Some people feel totally comfortable posting them and more power to them. If you want to post them, I’m sure your Coach and group members would love to see them. There’s power in visuals.

That being said, I’m kind of a private person and I don’t want my before pictures out there yet. Will I ever? Probably, but just not yet. 😉 So, don’t ever feel like you have to post things you’re not comfortable posting. That applies outside of Challenge Groups, as well!

Can I join any Challenge Group I want?

This is a bit of tricky question, because like everything else, it depends on the Coach running the group. Some Coaches welcome anyone and everyone, whether they are his/her customer or not. Some Coaches only have Challenge Groups for their direct customers. And some Coaches have multiple Challenge Groups going – one strictly for their customers and one that anyone can join. The first thing to do is find out what your Coach is offering and ask to join in. If he or she isn’t offering a Challenge Group that you are interested in, ask if she knows of one that you can join. Always start by asking your Coach first. He or she is invested in you!

If you don’t have a Coach, please feel free to reach out to me and I will be happy to chat with you. =)

I’m new to fitness/an old pro at fitness, do you recommend I join a Challenge Group?

No matter what your fitness level, I strongly encourage you to join a Challenge Group. Not only do they give you encouragement on those days when you’d rather stay in your pajamas, but they give you an opportunity to get support and help others. You don’t have to have any experience at all with fitness to be a wonderful, active member of a Challenge Group. Your level right now is the perfect level to start at. Don’t be afraid, don’t worry about being judged, your Challenge Group is there to support you at your level and encourage you to do your best.

If you’re debating whether or not to get involved, to enter into this world of health and fitness support through a Challenge Group, I say, Go for it! You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain with new friends, a strong support system, and help to reach your goals. I believe in you and I know that you can do whatever it is that you put your mind to.

Mama, you’ve got this. =)
